Goodness ... the place to start would be  the good old Secret Doctrine -
HPB had harsh words for most of western religion, but the Kaballah and the
neoplatonists seemed to be the two places that she went to over and
over again as the traditions that contained at least glimpses of the
Ancient Wisdom. The SD is full of similarities (and differences) between
the kabbalah and "classic" theosophy. -JRC
