Maybe it depends "whose" theosophy one is looking at.  Seems to me that CWL put
a greater emphasis on the Masters than others.  Today, the old wise guys seem to
in the background, which is wisdom in itself.  At one lodge I attended in
Chicago, they had large pictures of two of the Masters on the wall, but they
were only there for inspiration not adoration.  The main work of the lodge was
the study of many things pertaining to Theosophy.
