For which of the groups did you "try to sign up"? For Theosophy
International, it's very easy Just E-Mail Alan Bain at:

As to alt.theosophy it's a News Group and one joins it the usual way, If you
need help just post a message and folks more knowledgble than I will be glad
to help you.
