Alexis Comments: As I understand the history of the thing, The Doctrine of
Reincarnation was rejected as Christian doctrine after The Council of
Constantinople even though some of the Father's of the Church, ie. Clemens
Alexandrinus, had argued in it's favour. It was rejected, not because it
wasn't useful but because it was totally counter to the basic thrust of
Church Doctrine cum propaganda. If The major purpose of the Church is
Salvation from "hell" the Church would then find the idea of "Reincarnation"
it's worst enemy. "Hell" and reincarnation are mutually contradictory.

Alexis comments: The "Popul Vuh" isn't the only cosmology that speaks of
"previous races". Certainly the Aztecs and the Navahos do, and in Greece the
legends of the Bronze, Gold and silver Races also have the same
implications. But as of this moment they have no paleontological or
archaeological valid proofs.

Alexis comments: From the days when Aristotle first formulated the concept
of scientific investigation, to the time of Francis Bacon, who perfected the
concept, to our own times when all scientists insist on rigorous
investigation, peer review, and constant efforts to add yet more proof.
Anyone actually connected with science knows that scientists today, try
extremely diligently to be anything BUT a "belief system". That science is
no different than religion is one of the myths currently being diligently
being promulgated by the rear guard of religion.
