Well gang, I'm back to check out the landscape for a day or
two.  Just learned something weird about the anthroposophists
this weekend, which makes the ES seem almost benign in
comparison.  An old friend of mine who is a Steinerite
reappeared in my life recently, and we went canoeing on the
James last weekend.  Catching up on what we'd been doing in the
last few years, I said something about the conflict-ridden TS.
When I said there was a secret inner group that ran everything,
she said "Oh, yes, Anthroposophy has the same thing-- the First
Class."  "The WHAT?" I asked, incredulously.  She went on to
explain that she herself was in it, and that Steiner
named the thing.  From her description it sounds like a dead
ringer for our ES.

Believing in calling a spade a spade, I hereby propose that the
Esoteric Section be renamed "the First Class Theosophists" and
the rest of the members of TS-Adyar be officially deemed "the
Second Class Theosophists."  It might make people think a
little more clearly about the issues involved.  Yet somehow, it
doesn't seem to be an embarrassment to the Steinerites!
