JRC,

Thanks for the demistification of our founders! Obviously our
heroes take on mythic qualities. It is all the more amazing that
such a band of selfish, drunken perverts as you described were
able to come up with such a workable plan for a new country.
Almost defies any rational explanations. Perhaps there were some
unrecognized forces at work. In group psychology there has been
some discussion of the dynamics that make possible acts by groups
that no single member of the group would have been expected to
commit. If that notion is accepted, that still leaves open for
discussion the motive force doesn't it?
