Only that esoteric in itself would apply to any secret
initiation within one's own cultural context, and that I want
to emphasize that these characters were travelers who went to
faraway places to immerse themselves in something foreign and
romantic.  Still, will mention your idea when I talk to SUNY's
director about it.
